Our Founders

Dr. Robert L. McClendon

Dr. Robert McClendon was an inspiration for many.  It was his passion for giving back to the community that led him to co-found Fort Bend Cares in 2004.   Fort Bend Cares will look ahead and always hold the care, commitment, and leadership that Dr. Robert McClendon provided to our organization and give that back to the Fort Bend County community.

As a Medical Doctor, Dr. McClendon had a 40-year career in Family Medicine.  He was an Eagle Scout and a long time volunteer of Boy Scouts of America; he also had diverse involvement in other community nonprofits.  Bob saw a need in Fort Bend County that existed beyond medical care. Along with his good friend, Jim Rice, they founded Fort Bend Cares to address needs for children and families. Bob was a driving force in making an impact in Fort Bend serving under served youth. To honor his passing, the McClendon Family has asked that donations to Fort Bend Cares be given in lieu of flowers. If you wish to make a donation, please use the button.
